Welcome to our Pastoral Care and Counseling Ministry
The Pastoral Care and Counseling Ministry is designed to support the needs of our church members, attenders, and individuals or families in our community unaffiliated with a church. Our ministry is grounded in Christ and focused on helping those who are wounded in heart, broken in spirit, and without hope.

The overall mission of Cascade Hills is to reach out to those in our community who want to know the love of God through Jesus Christ. Our ministry supports our church mission by providing assistance to individuals and families in many different areas:

 COUNSELING MINISTRY

Cascade Hills Church offers Christ-centered, caring, and confidential counseling services to church members, regular attendees, and to individuals in our community without a church affiliation. Counseling hours are from 10 am-5:00 pm, Monday-Friday. Appointments are scheduled by calling the Counseling Center at (706) 257-6550.

Rev. Gene Boyd

Associate Pastor / Men's, Marriage and Family Pastoral Counselor

BA, Auburn University

M.Div., The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary

 

Rev. Boyd is highly qualified as a counselor and in pastoral care with over 30 years experience. He specializes in men's issues as well as marriage and family counseling.

Ladies', Marriage and Family Pastoral Counselor
BA - Psychology, University of Virginia

MA - Marriage and Family Counseling

MA - Christian Education
MCE, MAMFC, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary

Miss Bryant is a trained counselor who believes in the inerrancy of scripture.  She specializes in therapy with women, adolescents, children, couples, and families.  Kathryn is called by God to use biblical guidance to assist her clients in overcoming the struggles they face.

Is there a question you need answered regarding counseling?  To help serve you more effectively, the counseling ministry will answer questions via this website.  Your inquiries and our responses are confidential, so please feel free to contact us.

PREMARITAL COUNSELING
We welcome the opportunity to rejoice with you in your upcoming marriage. Our premarital counseling program consists of six sessions and is offered to our members, attenders, and to individuals in our community without a church membership or church background.

During premarital counseling, the bride and groom will meet with Kathryn Bryant to identify areas of strength in the relationship and to also discuss areas needing specific attention. You will discuss many subjects throughout your counseling experience including: communication and resolving conflicts; biblical marital roles and responsibilities; family of origin issues; financial responsibility; and personality compatibility.

If you would like to be married at Cascade Hills Church or desire a Cascade Hills minister to perform your wedding ceremony, completion of our premarital counseling program is required. To make an appointment for premarital counseling, please contact the Counseling Center at (706)257-6550.

SUPPORT GROUPS
Our support groups are here at Cascade Hills Church to help you cope with life when it just gets too difficult to walk alone. Support groups offer you an opportunity to meet with individuals who are dealing with the same struggles.

Our support groups are led by trained and experienced leaders who know how to help you. We are pleased to offer many different areas of support to help you in times of difficulty.
 

These groups meet on Saturday evenings at 5:00 p.m. or on Sunday mornings at 8:15 or 9:30 a.m.

Grief Recovery - Sundays 9:30 AM

Grief is a painful experience we go through when we lose a loved one, a job, our health, or any loss can cause us to experience grief. This class teaches the steps that the human being goes through due to grief. We also teach how to recover and slowly get back to normal. Grief takes time to work through and this class will stand beside you to help you move through that grief.

Surviving The Storms of Life (Grief Recovery)
Saturdays at 5:00PM and Sundays at 8:15AM


Loss can be devastating, especially when it involves a child. This class is taught by Dr. Mike Stephens who has experienced this type of loss. Though the class is geared to those of a similar situation it is open to all who have faced loss of any kind. You are encouraged to attend this class and learn how God can bring you through the storms of life.

Army Wives - (Saturdays 5PM)

Now as much as ever, military wives need the support of one another.  Our heroes are in our hearts, but many are currently not at home.  Serving overseas and defending our country, it is hard for them and difficult for us as well.  That’s why we have an Army Wives ministry, to support and encourage one another during these difficult times.  We meet on Saturday evenings at 5:00 PM and Sunday at 9:45 AM for encouragement and Bible study.

Choosing Wisely...Before You Divorce - (offered throughout the year)

This brief course is designed to provide you with solid information about the divorce process.  It will help you step back from the emotional turmoil and take an objective view of how divorce (if you
select that path) will affect your life in several different areas including:  legal; physical; financial; spiritual; emotional; and with your children.  It is essential that you have this information before making your decision.  This course is led by the Pastoral Care Department of CHC and to obtain more info, email support@cascadehills.com or call 257-6550. 

Divorce Care I & Divorce Care II - Saturdays and Sundays

You do not have to go through the pain of your divorce or separation alone.  In a Divorce Care group, you will come together with others who understand what you are going through.  With the help of God
and others, you will find the hope and encouragement you need to rebuild your life.

Biblical Ethics for Parenting - Saturdays 5PM

“Growing Kids God’s Way” Parenting is a challenge. Children at all ages have needs, and as they grow their needs become more complex. With the grace of God on your side, you can enjoy your children now – and forever.

FINANCIAL COUNSELING
There are times in everyone's life when a financial crisis occurs and there seems to be more bills than income. Fortunately, we have a ministry that can equip you with the knowledge you need to handle your finances.

At no cost to you, a financial counselor will set up a meeting with you to discuss your financial situation. He will help you to find biblical solutions to your financial struggles by teaching you the time-honored techniques of money budgeting, debt consolidation, and how to invest for your retirement.

HOSPITALIZATION
Our hospital ministry seeks to meet the needs of individuals who are facing illness, surgery, or long term hospital care. Our Associate Pastor, Gene Boyd and Assistant Pastoral Care Pastors, Dan Tharpe and Bob Hawkins extend the love of Christ to those who are hurting in our church family.

We would be more than happy to honor your request for a hospital visit for your family member in the Columbus, Georgia area. To request a hospital visit, please notify the Pastoral Care Administrative Assistant at (706) 257-6550.
